Approach

A small scope, taken seriously.

  1. i.

    One job each

Every product starts from one specific annoyance and stops there. No dashboards you didn't ask for, no feature sprawl.

  2. ii.

Your data stays with you where it can

Work happens on your device. When a product does need our server, its privacy policy says exactly what is sent and why. For Itemize that is your plan status, never your orders or your budget.

  3. iii.

    Paid, so it stays maintained

No ads, no selling data, no free tier propped up by something else. You pay a fair price and we keep the tool working when the sites it depends on change.

  4. iv.

    Plain terms

Prices on the page, a free trial before you pay, refunds when something doesn't work for you, and a real person answering email.

The name

Borrowed from a book that lasted.

ἡ μεγίστηGreek, “the greatest”. What scholars called Ptolemy's astronomy, around 150 AD.
al-majisṭīThe Arabic translation, 9th century Baghdad.
AlmagestThe Latin name it reached Europe under, 12th century.

The book survived about 1,400 years because people kept copying it carefully and translating it well. That is the part we took from it: make useful things, look after them, and they last.
